Counseling is a type of learning about oneself, one’s feelings, and one’s relationships with others. As in any learning environment, individuals will benefit most if they participate actively, attend sessions on time and are open and honest with the counselor. In turn, the counselor will listen to the individual’s concerns, assist him/her in setting and reaching appropriate goals and will respect his/her confidentiality. Counselors abide by the ethical principles of the American Counselors Association and individuals can expect to have services delivered in a professional, legal and ethical manner.
The therapy/counseling process helps people get “unstuck”. Through the development of insight and increased self awareness, people are able to gain a better understanding of their own behavior and the issues, feelings and events that motivate them. Relationship therapy is geared towards addressing the challenges of maintaining a healthy connection and effective communication. The goal is to increase the
understanding of yourself, your partner, and the patterns of interactions that have become detrimental to the relationship.
Is designed to help families learn skills to improve communication, conflict resolution,and strategies to enhance relationships. Treatment approaches
comprehensively address the family unit and functionality to promote
healing and growth.
The goal of Group Counseling is to instill hope in clients and bring people together so that they can benefit from more support throughout the session. Group counseling allows clients who feel alone and isolated avoid or aid in overcoming depression and behavioral issues.

Higher Heights is authorized to provide Supervision to Limited License Professional Counselors to fulfill the State of Michigan requirement of 100 post grad Supervision hours.
